Definition
Ploidy analysis is a test that measures the amount of DNA in tumor cells. It is also called DNA ploidy analysis.
Purpose
DNA ploidy analysis is used in addition to the traditional grading system as another way to evaluate how malignant a tumor might be. The advantage of this test is that it provides a numeric, and therefore objective, evaluation of how aggressive the cancer might be.
